PF2326 The original house was constructed at the start of the 1800´s & was a ´Maison Bourgeois´ with a Napoleon III park serving as a garden. The house maintained its place as a leading ´domain´ for vines lying in both the Madiran and St Mont  regions and extended to other activities such as the hosting of race horses.

It is to this day individually marked on most good road maps.  In approximately 1950 the original house caught fire and the property was deserted with all but 4.

4 hectares (12+ acres) of the land being sold off over the years.  In 1999 the property was purchased and for the first time in 50 years the borders of Therou began to be re-opened.

In 2000 planing permission was granted to rebuild 384 M2 of the original house, collapsed barns were demolished and strengthening work was conducted to the 200 M2 barn that was saved.  Between 2001 and 2004 construction of the new house took place employing 8 different contractors with an architect engaged to oversee the entire process, ensuring appropriate guarantees running from 30th April 2004.

  Special features of the construction include: copper gutters/ drain pipes, oak floors/ ceilings, exotic wood balconies, ethernet cabling (CAT 5), Speaker cables in every room, apparent cross-shaved oak beams, Spanish antique and modern doors/ cabinets, double glazing with hinged wooden framing, AGA cooker, Andalusian tiled floors and 1000 Litres of hot water through 3 separate systems. Underground is a larder, wine cellar, technical room and cinema.

Therou has 3 bedrooms with the potential to have 8.   Planning consent has now been granted to build a swimming pool and a swimming pool house.

Looking from the house to the North West, the design is a folly, reflecting the shape of the house, with the swimming pool in turn reflecting the shape of the folly.
