CD0018 The Chateau of the16th century style in the bourguignon style with two towers is located near Roanne. It is surrounded by a moat with two walled-in gardens and a beautiful pigeonnier entrance.

On the property are numerous outbuildings (approx. 250m2) and a barn of 350m2.

From the castle one has a magnificent view of the 6 ha lake with two isles. The lake and the moat are supplied by springs on the 11 hectare property and can both be drained.

The property has been brought to modern standards by its present owner, however scrupulously respecting the ancient architecture. One tower of the chateau contains the spiral staircase to all floors.

The second tower has the bathrooms incorporated. Most ceilings are “a la francaise”.

The chateau has a very homey atmosphere. History The most ancient known proprietor of the chateau was the noble family des Fourniers.

In 1528 lord of the manor house, captain-chatelain of Charlieu. A few years later, the property was owned by Jean de Foudras who married Claudine des Fourniers.

At the end of the 17th century the chateau became the property of the family Tillard which adopted the name of the chateau as annexe to their name. The present owner has bought the castle in 1987.
